FLOW Sculptures – Algorithmic Modelling

Ionut Anton takes the idea of a mathematical Mobius trip and using computational means and algorithmic modelling transforms the idea into fabricable objects. the mathematic function is deformed and adapted so that it produces a unique result for each of the sculpture instances. By combining know how of digital fabrication and traditional craftsmanship in metal working and ship building, he makes a concept into reality.
PhD. Arch. Ionuţ Anton is also teaching, holding a position of Assistant Professor at the ”Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism, where he teaches Architectural Design. He graduated from UAUIM in 2005 with distinction and also holds a PhD. in ”Algorithms and Architecture”, with the focus on the use of computational design in architecture. His research focus is in exploring how the digital media can change the way architecture is designed and made.
